Worksheet for Chosing a Topic

There have been many, many rockets/planes/probes sent into space, but little, if ANY scientific gain from any of it. As a consequence those many rockets were funded with billions of taxpayers’ dollars that were spent into oblivion for absolutely no reason at all.

My purpose is to analyze the exact dollar amount spent on the space program. I will accomplish it by asking questions like “What scientific data have we gathered from the moon?” “What new technology has been produced from the information that we retrieved from the moon?” These questions will be answered and criticized by a simple loss and gain ratio. I will take into account what money was spent, and what money was generated with any of the “information” scientists gathered from beyond our planet.

Title - “Fellow Taxpayers, Where Has Our Money Gone?”

The question that will be answered is also the title (also look in the second paragraph of this post.)

  1. Can you really calculate the EXACT dollar amount? Good topic, it's very interesting. Pretty narrowed down and you should get some great details from sources.

  2. Question: Is there really "little" scientific gain from discovering things once unknown about space? Just think about how narrowminded the world would be if we still thought the Earth was square and the sun revolved around the Earth... Yes it does cost alot but I think you really need to give concrete evidence on how the information (or lack of) wasn't worth it in the scientific sense... Sorry I don't mean to rip on your topic :/ just being truthful.

  3. I would love to know where our money has gone. Nice title. Are you also going to find out what went wrong with everything that was sent into space, why we don't have much gain?

  4. That is a good topic/question and it really makes you wonder. It will be really interesting to know what new technology has been produced. This should be a very good paper to argue on, I don't think it is right that taxpayers have to give their money for things like that.

  5. Space Program and cost--you might have people confused because the4 money has already been spent and they are focused on the current economic crises. However, if you want to connect the "space program" to the present in some kind of way; then you could make it appeal to an audience more.
